Julia Newman Edgeworth

Ms. Julia Newman Edgeworth, age 91, passed away October 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1924 in Bedford County, Virginia to the late Percy and Doshie Newman. She was a dedicated nurse throughout her life and was passionate in helping others. Julia was a faithful member of Kingswood United Methodist Church for 30 plus years. She loved quilting and sewing with her sisters, as well as traveling frequently to visit family in Virginia. Fridays were a special day for her and her friends to get together to play cards. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Julia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Edgeworth; Daughter, Diane Edgeworth Jessup, and her parents; one sister, Alma Almond; three brothers, Terrance Newman, P.C. Newman, and John William Newman. She is survived by her son, Ricky (Debbie) Edgeworth; grandsons, Ryan Edgeworth, Daniel Jessup; granddaughter, Amy Jessup; Son-in-law, Doug Jessup; two sisters, Edith McCormick, Ava Ferguson, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Vickie Carroll for her being a friend and help to Julia when needed. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 P.M Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Chapel, Rural Hall, N.C. with Rev. Sid Lanier officiating. Interment will follow in Rural Hall Memorial Park.
