WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Julia Faye Barber, 60, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on June 29, 1952 in Maryland to the late Byron and Irene Ward. Julia worked for Amerilife and Health Services for over 15 years. She enjoyed playing slot machines, bowling, and playing bingo as long as her health permitted. Julia was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her grandson, Niko, was the light of her world. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Mrs. Barber are her husband, Clifford Barber of the home; a daughter, Shannon Nelson (Ian) of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Niko Nelson of Winston-Salem; one brother, Daniel Ward of Maryland; one sister, Bonnie Martin (Sam) of Montana; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family wants to express a special ""thank you"" to the Richards family of Latonsville, Maryland for their support throughout this difficult time.
