Judy Sparks

Judy VanHoy Sparks, 68, of Pfafftown, North Carolina, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Roger VanHoy, mother, Virginia Madeline VanHoy, brother, Ted VanHoy, and sister, Alice Cook. Judy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jeff; Her daughter, Dana Coley Holloway; Brother, Steve Fletcher; Grandchildren, Zoey Holloway and Zach Holloway; and numerous family and friends. Judy was born May 11, 1954, in Bristol Tennessee. She spent her career, spanning over 35 years, at Ryan’s Restaurant as a manager and eventually co-owner. Judy had a lifelong commitment to Gospel Light Baptist Church and continued her relationship with the church until the very end. Anyone who knew Judy knew she was a self-made homemaker, counselor, horticulturalist and caregiver. She did it all! Her world revolved around her daughter Dana, and her dogs, Simon and Bo. As a woman of God with a heart of gold, she cared for many and cared deeply. She cared for her aging mother for more than three years, befriended and helped care for residents of Rural Hill retirement community and was always lending support to family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5th from 6-9 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. A private graveside service will be Wednesday, January 11 at 1:00 PM.
