Mrs. Judith Timms Brownlee, 72, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 13, 1945 in Fulton County, GA to the late Vivian Spence Timms and Homer Sidney Timms, Jr. Mrs. Brownlee was a 1962 graduate of Murphy High School in Atlanta, GA. In 1966, she was an honor graduate of Eckerd College, where she received her BS in Psychology. In April of 2010, Mrs. Brownlee became a Guardian ad Litem for Stokes County where she personally advocated for at least 42 children, not including children she visited as a courtesy. Prior to that she held many positions where she helped countless children and families through social services and mental health facilities. She was an active member of Bethania Moravian Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was in the Handbell choir. Mrs. Brownlee spent her entire life helping others and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Brownlee; three children: Keith Murray Brownlee (Jamie), Patrick Sidney Brownlee (Traci), and Lydia Brownlee Smith (Sean); three grandchildren: Austin, Drew, and Logan; and one sister, Martha Lynne Grayson (Edward). A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Bethania Moravian Church with the Rev. David Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to GAL Advocate Fund, P.O.
