Mrs. Juanita Fishel Troutman of Winston-Salem, age 90, went to her eternal home on November 29, 2023, after living a life filled with joy and love. She was born on October 22, 1933, in Forsyth County to the late Clyde William and Mertie Allen Fishel. Juanita graduated from Griffith School and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years of service. After her retirement from RJR, she enjoyed working at BonWorth. She was a member of Hopewell Moravian Church where she loved helping others. She found great joy in sending cards to church members on behalf of the church to brighten a person’s day. For many years she helped make delicious chicken pies for the church to sell. She looked forward to attending the annual Christmas Love Feast Services at the church. Juanita also served on the ladies’ auxiliary for Griffith Fire Department. She enjoyed gardening and had a great love for her flowers that she planted every year. She believed that talking to them would help them grow and apparently it did for they were always beautiful. Over the years she found great pleasure working in her vegetable garden, canning, and freezing produce to use in her home cooked meals. She often shared her produce and great meals with family and friends. She always looked forward to Sunday meals with family at her home. She had a large, fun-loving personality and a special love for Christmas. She enjoyed making homemade goodies and exchanging gifts. It was fun watching her get so excited over her gifts, opening all the gifts at once with sparkling eyes. She was also a little mischievous at times. She had lots of fun and laughs dressing up at Halloween and scaring the trick or treaters. So many fond memories. Juanita is preceded in death by the love of her life, Ralph Edward Troutman. They were married in 1953 and shared 44 wonderful years together. She is also preceded in death by two brothers Wilburn Fishel and Roger Fishel; three sisters Patty Rae Fishel Hendrix, Virginia Fishel Davis, and Peggy Fishel Shuford Lewter. Surviving are her children Mike (Janis Faye) Troutman of Winston-Salem, and Tange (Marty) Link of Lexington; four grandchildren Lindsey (Ryan) Salomon, Courtney Troutman of Winston-Salem, and McKayla and Daniel Link of Lexington; two great grandchildren Sawyer and Blaise Salomon of Winston-Salem; and one brother Sidney Fishel of Emerald Isle, NC. She will be missed by all, but the memories she made will live on forever. A visitation will be at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek on Monday December 4, 2023, from 10:30-11:30am with the burial to follow at 12pm Monday at Parklawn Memorial Park, Winston-Salem with Pastor Jeff Carter Officiating. The Troutman family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Trellis Supportive Care for the exceptional care provided and all the caretakers who loved our sweet mom. We were truly blessed during this time. Memorials made be made to Hopewell Moravian Church 701 Hopewell Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Trellis Supportive Care 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
