Juanita Eblen Swaim

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Juanita Eblen Swaim, 85, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Juanita was born on November 21, 1929 in Georgia to Herman William and Ernie Irene Taylor Eblen. Juanita was a life-long member of Pisgah United Methodist Church where she was the choir director for over 20 years. She was also a founding member, serving as treasurer, of Crisis Control Ministry in Kernersville. Some of her favorite past times were reading and doing the daily crossword in the Winston-Salem Journal - in pen! She was an accomplished hand-quilter, sharing many of her works with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis Swaim; and two sisters, Mildred Sumler and Marie Brown.
Surviving are her children, Anna Shull (husband, George), Mary Catherine Collins (husband, Jerry), Joyce Tadlock (husband, Benny) and Colin Swaim; six grandchildren, Edward Shull, April Herzog, John Herzog, Ashley Berry, Rachel Tadlock and Codye Swaim; and five great grandchildren, Brittany Shull, Alexie Shull, Madilyn Fowler, Ethan Tadlock and Adalynne Berry.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Kernersville with Rev. Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
