Juanita Williams Minnix born October 13, 1918, left this earthly place to be in her Heavenly home Wednesday, March 4, 2009. She was surrounded by her family: daughter Sue Ann and Ashley Lilly of Winston-Salem; two sons Dan and Bettye Minnix of Surprise, AZ and Ron and Becky Minnix of Winston-Salem. Juanita spent her early life in Roanoke, VA graduating from Jefferson High School after attending the Blue Ridge Mission School in Buffalo Ridge, VA. She and her family moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1961. Her time in Winston-Salem was spent working in both retail clothing and Winkler Bakery in Old Salem. She was survived by five grandchildren: Gina and Kevin Johnson of Roanoke, VA; Carole Sue and Bernie Butler of Kernersville; Boyd Minnix and friend Paul Krenn of Chicago, IL; Brian and Michelle Minnix of Phoenix, AZ; Grant Minnix of Winston-Salem. Also she is survived by two great grandchildren Corey and Brianna Minnix of Phoenix, AZ. Preceding her in death were her father, Peter D. Williams and mother Emma Dent Williams; her Husband of 61 years, Boyd A. Minnix; and a son David G. Minnix. This sweet, loving mother, grandmother and friend will be missed by all. Our Lord has blessed her family and friends with 90 years of unending love and joy. Her memory will live on. Donations, in her memory, may be made to the Kate B. Services will be held at the First Christian Church of Winston-Salem, Saturday March 7, 2009 at 3:00 pm. The internment will be at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00 am, Monday March 9, 2009 in Roanoke, VA.
