Joyce "Joy" Roberts Timmons

WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mrs. Joyce ""Joy"" Roberts Timmons, 94, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Timmons was born on April 20, 1921 in Pulaski, Virginia to the late Lee Hampton Roberts and Martha Elizabeth ""Betty"" Johnson Roberts. Joy was a lifetime member of Salem Baptist Church. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 31 years of service. Joy was a proud member of Weight Watchers for 31 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Timmons was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall F. Timmons; three brothers, Carl M. Roberts, Hughy Roberts and Gene Roberts; and two sisters, Grace Dalton and Lillie Williams. Mrs. Timmons is survived by her daughter, Brenda Glenn of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Kevin Matthews (Kathy) and Candace Glenn, all of Winston-Salem; two great-grandchildren, Amethyst Matthews and Payton Glenn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Timmons will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Howard Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Shelvia, Doris, Sandy and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County for the compassionate care they provided to Joy.
