Mrs. Joyce Irene Wooten Walker Hale of King passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 at N.C. Baptist Hospital. She was born in Forsyth County on August 2, 1937. Mrs. Hale was a retired LPN from Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Sadie Irene Warner Wooten Long and James Thomas Wooten. Preceding her death are husband David Hale; and two sisters, Merlene Shaw and Frances Randleman. Surviving are four children, Joy Lawson (Jerry) of King, Johnny Walker (Katherine) of Kernersville, Debbie Parker and friend, Jackie Stewart of Germanton, and Donna Lane (Rufus) of Tobaccoville; one sister, Janice Benson of King; one brother, Chester Long (Loretta) of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Tammy Wade (Ricky), Phillip Lawson and girlfriend, Christy Mabe, William Lawson and friend Allison Carmichael, Tomi Gortman (Shawn), Michael Lane (Amanda); eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Elaine Collins. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, May 10 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Danny Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in King. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service. The family sends a special thank you to the nurses and staff at N.C. Baptist Hospital. Also, the family wishes to thank Mrs. Hale's niece, Wanda Butner for her thoughtfulness and loving kindness during this time.
