Joyce Nelson Daniels

Joyce Nelson Daniels, 66, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on February 4, 2015. She was born on August 21, 1948 to Robert L. Nelson, II and Norma Brewer Nelson in Davidson County. Joyce was a woman of faith who attended Centenary United Methodist Church where she was a member for more than 40 years. She graduated from N. Davidson Sr. High in 1966. Joyce was employed as an Office Coordinator at Novant Health until her retirement in 2013 with 15 years of service. Joyce and her husband Alvin frequently participated in local car shows and cruise-ins, winning many awards. Her enthusiasm for Duke Basketball will be remembered by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Nelson, III; and father-in-law, S. Ray Daniels. Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, G. Alvin Daniels; daughters, Annette Hill, Jennifer Hinson and her husband, Marcus, and Debbie Daniels; grandchildren, Adam Lee Hill, Kelly Elizabeth Hill, Tyler Vann Hinson, Lindsay Marie Hinson; great-grandchildren, Olivia Rose Hill, Bobby A. Smith; sisters, Linda Craver and husband Robert, Jeanie White, and husband Greg; sister-in-law, Faye Nelson; mother-in-law, Polly Daniels; sister-in-law, Kathy Crotts and her husband, Mike; two nieces, and two nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church of Clemmons with Rev. Roland Barnhardt officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church of Clemmons, 5280 Hampton Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012; or to Second Harvest Food Bank, 3655 Reed St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
