Joy Bassett Grandy

Mrs. Joy Bassett Grandy, 84, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Joy was born on January 10, 1931 in Forsyth County to William Franklin and Effie Williams Bassett. She was a lifelong member of Sprague Street Church of Christ and later became a member of Pinedale Christian Church. In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Richard Grandy; a brother, Don Bassett; and one son, Fred Richard ""Dick"" Grandy, Jr. She is survived by one son, Stanley ""Stan"" Grandy and wife Carol; one daughter, Wendy Grandy Tornow and husband Bill; five grandchildren, Lauren, Emilee, Alondra, Anthony, and Michael Tornow; and one sister Doris Bassett Livengood. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Pinedale Christian Church with Rev. Bob McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
