Joshua Anthony Hutchinson, 24, passed away on November 1, 2015. Josh had an accident while driving an ATV. He was a Petty Officer 2nd Class, E5, stationed in Oceana, VA, as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in the United States Navy. Josh was born on April 12, 1991 in Winston, Salem, NC and later adopted by Jim and Becky Thomas Hutchinson. In 2009 he earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 910, graduated Reynold's High School before entering the Navy in 2009. In his early years he tried every sport. When he was a little guy, he wanted to look official. He wanted his Dad to buy him all of the matching gear for baseballâ¦. His dad told him that he would not buy them until he could catch 20 balls in a rowâ¦..well it was not long until Josh went with Dad and they completed the uniform. Josh loved to cook at a very young age, first serving up to his parents, (if we could eat it) and his best friends, and later for many Navy buddies and their families. Josh loved being outdoors, climbing trees, fishing, playing war with his best buddies When he was older, fishing and hunting were his favorite things! A Sailor buddy said that if Josh could get a pound of meat out of something, then he was cooking it. We all lost a Sailor/Chef too! Josh played golf in the summers at Winston Lake Youth Golf camp under Ernie Morris and Ralph Gaillard and later became a camp counselor. While at Reynolds High he played football and lacrosse, he was in Troop 910 Boy Scouts, later completing his Eagle Scout and dedicating it to the Winston Lake Youth Golf. He loved history and made several road trips visiting DC, Philadelphia, and Boston with his Mom. Having traveled so many places around the USA, it made it easy for Josh to make friends in the Navy. On multiple deployments he visited many countries both in Europe and the Middle East. He leaves his sister Summer Martin of Wilkesboro, and their birth Mother Rani Miller of Crumpler, NC. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Church in Winston-Salem, officiated by Father Brian Cook, with a 21 gun salute.
