Josephine "Jo" Cox Young

Angels came down from Heaven to get Mrs. Mary Josephine ""Jo"" Cox Young, where Jesus was waiting to reunite her with her loving husband of 71 years Woodrow, on Tuesday March 25, 2014. Jo was born in Stokes County on May 30, 1923 to the late Clarence Everett and Mattie Tuttle Cox. Jo loved to travel, and was able to visit 48 out of the 50 states here in America. She enjoyed playing cards and creating handmade bead necklaces, bracelets, and crocheting afghans. Jo was a long time member of Advent Moravian Church and proud member of the DAR- Daughters of American Revolution. She was preceded in death by husband Woodrow Wilson Young. Jo is survived by a son Larry Young and wife Etta; grandchildren Lauren Young and Dana Smith; great grandchildren Mallory Smith, Mason Smith, and Elizabeth Young; sister in laws Roxie Smith and husband Tommy and Laura Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 at Advent Moravian Church with Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, March 27, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
