Lewisville- On Sunday, December 30, 2012, a princess named Jo was called to the heavenly castle in the sky to be with her Prince, Pete. Another chapter of this fairy tale has ended and the final chapter begun. To continue the story, our mother taught us to love and have the faith to endure all things here on earth. The castle will be prepared and waiting for the reunion of us all one day. Josephine C. Thomas born June 30, 1929 leaves here on earth to cherish her memory are three daughters, Mary Alice Stanley (Donnie) of King, Becky Payne (Richard) of Lewisville, and Billie Jo Boardwine of Mocksville; son, John W. Thomas (Rachelle) of Clemmons; 11 grandchildren, Clint Stanley, Corey Coffey, Will, Joe, Joshua, and Wesley Douglas, Casey Doub, Samantha Hobson, Trevor, Cole, and Brianna Thomas; 19 great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild due in January; three sisters, Lou Talley of Richmond, VA, Virginia Motsinger of Winston-Salem, and Opal Walker of Pfafftown; two brothers, Morrell and T.R. Comer both of Winston-Salem; her In-Laws, Anna Walin (George), Paul Ray Spainhour (Grace), Martha ""Tubbie"" Hege (Dee), Shirley McInnis (Wayne), and Al Kaplan. Preceding her in death was her husband, William Clinton ""Pete"" Thomas, Jr.; a sister, Juanita Kaplan and an infant sister, a great-grandson, and her parents, Thomas R. and Ellen Easter Comer. Mrs. Thomas was a member at Brookstown United Methodist Church and was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved crocheting, sewing, cooking, and working on search word puzzles. She retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System in the food nutrition department. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 4, 2013 at Brookstown United Methodist Church with Rev. James T. ""Chip"" Webb, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In her memory, memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Brookstown United Methodist Church 6274 Yadkinville Rd. Pfafftown, NC 27040. The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Forest Nursing and Rehab for all the care and support given to Mrs. Thomas and her family.
