Josephine Berry Poteet

AdvanceMrs. Josephine Berry Poteet, 93, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 30, 1919 in Valdese, NC to the late Zeb and Princess Ogles Berry. Mrs. Poteet was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family and was always hard at work taking care of them. She enjoyed visiting her family in Valdese, cooking, gardening, going out to eat, and traveling to the beach and mountains. Preceding her in death was her husband, Monion Poteet, son, Steve Poteet, and son-in-law, Floyd C. McAtee. Surviving are three daughters, Gay Poteet of the home, Kay McAtee of Tobaccoville, and Judy P. Merritt of Raleigh; grandson, Dr. Matthew Merritt (Audrey) of Dallas, Texas; great-grandson, Judah Merritt; sister-in-law, Blanche Berry; numerous nieces, nephews and three step-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
