Josephine Bell

Mrs. Josephine Smith Bell, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Josephine was born in Forsyth County on September 14, 1927, to the late Joe Smith and Pink Elliott Smith. She was a member of Kernersville Moravian Church and a resident of Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community for 24 years. She was a registered nurse and retired from Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Bell; a son, Richard Steven Bell; and one sister, Ernestine Minish. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bell Edwards (Ken) of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, Jennifer Edwards Van Kirk (Erik) of Wilmington, NC and Katharine Edwards of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Henry Smith of Columbus, Ohio and Dr. Jerry Smith (Skip) of Pinehurst, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Kernersville Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. John G. Rights and Rev. Linda Browne officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Kernersville Moravian Church, 504 South Main St., Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Bell.
