Joseph "Max" Tuttle

Joseph ""Max"" Tuttle, 78, was born on June 30, 1937 in Stokes County to Joseph Seaton and Susie Yates Tuttle. On May 23, 2016, his nearly ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease drew to a close. Max was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and pretty much anything that kept him outside. Once the grandsons came along, there were ball games, pine wood derby races, band concerts and many other activities that kept him busy. He attended Corinth Church of Christ for many years before joining Rural Hall Christian Church in 1984, where he attended as long as his health allowed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Fansler, Burl Tuttle, Effie Marshall, Stella Boles and Pauline Tilley. He is survived by his wife, Kay Lawson Tuttle, son, Kerry Tuttle and wife Sandy, daughter, Lesa Hudgins and husband Tim, grandsons, Joshua Hudgins (Hayley), Nicholas Tuttle and Jordan Hudgins (Kayla). He is also survived by siblings, Wren Tuttle, Stacy Hobson, Gladys Norris (Clinard), Wayne Tuttle and Roslie Collins (Don), as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Rural Hall Christian Church. Officiating will be Ministers, Ron Voss, Peter Cain and Wesley McCarter. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27030. The family would like to thank all those who have helped care for Max over the last several months, especially Dr. David Jarrett, Linda and Clara from Home Instead, and most recently the dedicated staff of Thomasville Medical Center and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. What Alzheimer's took away, God has now fully restored. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Phil. 4:20.
