Joseph Seats

Mr. Joseph Nathaniel "Ted" Seats, 98, died on December 30, 2017. He was born to Sidney Nathaniel and Ethel Black Seats on May 22, 1919 and was married November 27, 1959 to Annie Harris Seats who died April 4, 2013. From 1941-1945 he honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII on active duty in the islands of New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, and the Philippines in the Pacific Theater of Operations. After working 33 years, he retired from Lucent Technology (formerly Western Electric) but continued to enjoy working at his farm and garden until his last few years when his health began to fail. He was the oldest member of Union United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his wife and parents; four sisters, Nellie S. Langley, Adeline S. Harbin, Elizabeth S. Pilcher, and Mary Edith S. O'Harrah; five brothers, Sidney H. Seats, John C. Seats, William H. (Tan) Seats, Hugh G. Seats, and Worth G. Seats; and one step-son, Tommy Reid. Survivors include one sister, Frances S. Sisk of Winston-Salem; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Seats and Faye Seats, both of Lewisville; one step-son, Larry Reid of N. Wilkesboro; step-daughter, Gail Reid Henkel and husband, Richard of Raleigh; step-daughter-in-law, Linda Reid of Winston-Salem and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Flack officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 8935 Shallowford Rd. Lewisville, NC 27023 for the Cemetery Fund or the General Fund.
