Joseph Estridge Mitchell

Mr. Joseph Estridge Mitchell, 75 of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Mitchell was born June 27, 1933 in Forsyth County to Franklin Carlton and Grace Mabel Estridge Mitchell. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple, where he served on the Deacon Board. He also was a member of the Gideon's International, the Rescue Mission and was the owner of Alpha and Omega Data Entry Inc. While in the Military, Mr. Mitchell was the Northwest Boxing Champion. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Tieman. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty years, Margaret Heglar Mitchell of the home; five children; Lori Langdon (Steve) of Mint Hill, NC, Duane Mitchell of Charlotte, NC, Mike Mitchell (Maxine) of Wadesboro, NC, Kim Smith (Harley) of Welcome, NC, Danny Mitchell (Tracy) of Westfield, NC; 12 grandchildren; Jason Mitchell, Kenney Mitchell, Shawn Blankenship, Shannon Blankenship, Lena Purser, Josh Langdon, Dean Wood, Brandon Wood, Joey Mitchell, Amber Mitchell, Derek Mitchell and Mark Mitchell; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Jean Cameron. The Mitchell Family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Monday, October 6 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 7 at Grace Baptist Temple officiated by Rev. Ron Hawkins and Rev. Jim Bush. Entombment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are requested to Grace Baptist Temple Building Fund, 3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
