Joseph Wesley McDowell

Mr. Joseph Wesley McDowell, 86, of Advance passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born May 12, 1929 in Cullman County, Alabama to Hessie Moore and Ped McDowell. He retired from MDS Trucking Company and was a member of South Fork Baptist Church, Winston-Salem NC. He owned J&D Grocery, a country store in White's Chapel, AL. Mr. McDowell enjoyed fishing, gardening, and small engine repair and crocheting. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dollie McDowell; second wife, Marie McDowell. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Clinard and husband George of Advance, Missy Campbell and husband Dock of Ragland, AL; one son, Larry McDowell of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Paul Smeltzer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
