Joseph Eugene Lankford

Mr. Joseph Eugene Lankford passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1946 in Forsyth County to the late Hassell Jack Lankford and Margaret Rhumell Welch. Mr. Lankford proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Mr. Lankford loved baseball, softball, Nascar and racing. He was the owner of a stock car at Bowman Gray Stadium and co-owner of a drag car. Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda Caudle Lankford; daughter, Christina Lankford and husband, Kevin Allen; son, Brian Lankford and wife, Sarah; grandson, Kristian Allen, who was the pride of his life; three step-grandchildren, Koloney Stover, Kennedy Allen and Jalen Lyles; sister, Susan Silvers and husband, Barry; niece, Heather Fuller and husband, Justin; and nephew, Matthew Silvers and wife, Stacie. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. W. Norwood Green officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park with military burial rites provided by American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 12 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
