Joseph Delano Lang

OAK RIDGE-Joseph Delano Lang, 82, a loving husband, a caring father and grandfather passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 8, 1934 in Gates Co., NC to the late Claudius Elmo Lang, Sr. and Bertie Daniel Lang. Joseph was a minister who served a number of different churches throughout NC and VA. He loved supporting others spiritually during their time of need. Gardening was his passion and he loved sharing the fruits of his labor with his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Lang, Jr., George Lang and infant Thurman Lang; two sisters, Edna Earle Blanchard and Amaryllis Riddick. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn Turner Lang of Kernersville; daughter, Susan Mowery and husband, Paul of Oak Ridge; son, David Brian Lang of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, Taylor Brooke Mowery of Charlotte and Autumn Caroline Mowery of Oak Ridge; brother, Daniel Lang of Gatesville; and several very special nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Rev. Roger Barricks and Rev. Larry Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
