Joseph John Kaper, 97, passed away at his home on February 3, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1923 to Joseph Francis Kaper and Mary Cecilia Graboski Kaper in Allegheny County, PA. A proud WWII veteran, Joseph served in the US Army. Fighting for his country in five battles, he was wounded twice and received two purple hearts. Following the war, he returned from Europe by ship with a little dog, Sally, who remained by his side for 21 years. A gifted engineer, Joseph retired from Kester Machinery following a long and rewarding career. Joseph was a man of faith. His church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, was an important part of his life. He enjoyed tending his flower garden and giving away the beautiful roses to others. Joseph was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Thomas Kaper and Kenneth Allen Kaper. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Ellen H. Kaper; three step-children; Brian H. West, Sheila Grace West, and Mershon M. Viscusie and husband, David; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Anne Kaper; and a daughter-in-law, Sophie Kaper. No services will be held.
