Joseph Howard Davis

Mr. Joseph Howard Davis passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 1, 2012. He was born in Forsyth County on August 3, 1949 to the late Iris Perrell Davis and Howard Davis. Mr. Davis graduated from North Forsyth High School and Forsyth Technical Institute. He retired from WS/FCS with 34 years of service. Mr. Davis was a member of Providence Moravian Church and was also a member of the Providence Moravian Church Band, Oak Grove Moravian Church Band, Winston-Salem Community Band and the Historic Bethabara Band. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Marvin ""Bud"" Lunsford Jr.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth ""Lib"" Hair Lunsford; and nephew, James Lacy Lunsford. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Sherry Lunsford Davis; two sons, Rory Joseph Davis and Ross Howard Davis; mother-in-law, Claudia Simpson Lunsford; father-in-law, Marvin C. Lunsford Sr.; brother-in-law, Jack L. Lunsford and wife, Janet; and also, several nieces, nephews and other extended family. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Providence Moravian Church with the Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating. Mr. Davis will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
