Joseph Aycock Biles

Mr. Joseph Aycock Biles, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 24, 1929 in Forsyth County to William Allen and Ethel Aycock Biles. Mr. Biles was a charter member of Good Shepherd Moravian Church where he was the oldest member. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS North Carolina where he was a fire control technician, aiming and shooting 5 inch guns with a 12 mile range for targets, which there were 12 five inch guns on ship. He was retired from Flow Automotive with many years of service and then worked for Reynolda Auto Mart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sapp Biles. Surviving are one daughter, the Rev. Linda B. Osborne Seippel and husband William of Winston-Salem; three sons, Joseph A. Biles (USN Retired) and wife Mary of High Point, Alex M. Biles of Huntsville, AL, William A. Biles and wife Melissa of Kernersville; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one brother, William Biles and wife Elaine of Hickory; two sisters, Betty Ann Bricker of Winston-Salem and Mary Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Judy Knopf and the Rev. Linda Seippel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Good Shepherd Moravian Church, 1474 Kerner Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
