Joseph Ray Atchley

Mr. Joseph ""Ray"" Atchley, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015.

Ray was born October 4, 1923 in Rutherford County to the late Robert Logan Atchley and Pannie Effie Atchley. He served on a LST in the Pacific Theater during WWII for the U.S. Navy. A member of Southside Baptist Church, he retired from McLean Trucking Co. and Branch Motor Express. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Maude McDade Atchley, sons, Bobby Hill and Howard Hill, sisters, Mary Kimble and Lennie Jones, and brother, Glen Atchley.

Ray is survived by his son, Bill Bridges and wife Faith of Spencer; grandchildren, Gene Bridges of Winston-Salem and Debbie Wilkerson of Greensboro; sisters, Jonnie Sue Conner and Geneva Wilson; brother, Charles Atchley, and daughters in law, Dot Hill and Mary Hill.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
