Jonathan 'Jon' David Mazza

Jonathan ""Jon"" David Mazza, 20, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 2, 2011, in New Castle, VA at Camp Easter Seals, a place he truly loved. Jon was born in St. Louis, MO on December 17, 1990 to David J. and Pat Simonson Mazza. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Jon attended Carter High School, where he was a member of the Cheerleading team. He enjoyed going to Wake Forest Sporting Events and attending camp each year with his brother. He was always ready for his next adventure including, snow skiing and trips to the pool. Jon was a special needs child who lived life to the fullest, enjoying and making the most of every day. He truly inspired and touched the lives of everyone he met. Jon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Simonson. He is survived by his parents; a brother, Andy Mazza of the home; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Simonson of Topsham, ME; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Virginia Mazza of Marshfield, WI. A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with the Father Brian Cook officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 6 to 8pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
