Jonathan “Jay” Paul Turner, 57, a resident of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Guilford County to the late James Lynwood and Mary Laura Polaf Turner on December 20, 1967.
Jay loved Jesus and had a strong Faith. In his early years, he attended Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, which had a Boy Scout troop from which he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
He graduated from East Forsyth High School, where he was Student Body President his Senior year. After high school, he attended Davidson County Community College followed by proudly serving 8 years in the US Navy. Jay continued his passion for the military by helping veterans receive their benefits through his position at Department of Veterans Affairs.
In his free time, Jay enjoyed traveling, cooking, graphic design, and anything “tech”. He looked forward every month getting up early on Breakfast Sunday and cooking with the guys at Journey Church of Lexington. Jay loved watching sports and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and of course Duke Basketball.
He would often be seen proudly wearing his Duke blue anytime of the year. He was a wonderful friend, son, brother, husband, and daddy (to his pups). He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his brother, Chris Turner; and his beloved dogs, Peppi, Zebbie and Lexie.
Left to cherish Jay’s memory is his wife of 16 years, Julie Turner of the home; his brother, Tim Turner; and his dogs, Bella and Zoey.
