Johnny Odell Pitts

OAK RIDGE - Johnny Odell Pitts, 81, passed away Saturday, July 09, 2011 at his home. He was born March 19, 1930 in Guilford Co. to the late Odell J. and Essie Lee Robertson Pitts. Mr. Pitts was a United States Army veteran, an avid NASCAR fan and a lover of cats. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin sister. Surviving are his wife, Norma L. Pitts of the home; his son, Will Phillips and wife, Amy of Dacula, GA; and two grandchildren, Keith and Brianna Phillips; as well as numerous cousins; and his three cats, especially Josh. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Chaplain Chris Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Rock United Methodist Church cemetery in Stokesdale. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
