Johnny W. Landingham was born April 25, 1915 to Grover C. Landingham and Nellie Pike Landingham. He passed on May 1, 2009 at Brookridge Health Center. He was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem where he was a member of Ogburn Memorial Methodist Church and a graduate of Mineral Springs High School. Johnny served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Mathis, his brother, G. C. Landingham, Jr., and a nephew, Jeff Beeson. Johnny was a devoted brother and uncle to his family. He is survived by his sisters, Geneva Mosteller, Veatrice Elliott, Evelyn Beeson, Blanche Redding, Barbara Jean Easter of Winston-Salem, and a brother, Harry Lee Landingham of Myrtle Beach, SC. His nieces and nephews who loved him and helped care for him this past year are: Becky Myers, Pamela Smith, Sylvia Atkison, Paula Avant, Beverly Greenwood, Marilyn Harrison, Patricia King, Kathy Swain, Greg Elliott, Michael Elliott, Randy Elliott, Gary Redding, Diane Morris, Carol Jean Wood, Lee Landingham, Terri Lynn Landingham, Ricky Easter, Steve Easter and Melony Lowery. He is also survived by 26 Great nephews and nieces and 14 Great Great nieces and nephews. Johnny was President and owner of Landingham Plumbing & Heating Co. which his father founded. He was an avid walker both on his farm and later at Brookridge Retirement Community for the past 15 years. Services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Ray Benfield officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Brookridge Health Center and Hospice for their care and concern.
