Mr. Johnny Benson “John” Frye, Sr., 70, passed away peacefully at his home on February 8, 2021.  Johnny was born in Forsyth County on September 26, 1950, to the late Jesse Bryant Frye and Bonnie Benson Frye. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools with 26 years of dedicated service.  John loved the outdoors, he believed in hard work and perseverance.  He was a loving man, always willing to help anyone at any time.   In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Tracy Diane Frye; sister, Frankie Frye; and three brothers: Steve, Wendell, and Larry Frye.  Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kim Frye; son, Johnny Frye (Jody); adopted son, Clemente Herrera (Margaret); eight grandchildren: Jesse Frye; Kacey Mullen (Frank), Katelyn, Kayla, and Kyndal Frye, CJ, Sierra, and Nick Herrera; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Mullen.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021, at Bannertown Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Lattimore officiating. Mr. Frye will lie-in-state at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM Friday.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
