Johnny Elmer Ball

Johnny Elmer Ball, 88, passed away at his home on May 19, 2023. He was born to John Henry Ball and Mary Lelia Mitchell Ball on June 22, 1934, in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Johnny worked for Hanes Brands for 56 years and loved fishing and metal detecting. He also loved to tend to his garden. Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Hudspeth Ball; his parents; half-brother Ernest Mitchell; brother John Ball; brother Roy Ball; sister Betty Nifong; sister Lucille Luffman; sister Millie Sapp; brother Robert Ball; and brother David Ball. He is survived by daughter Donna (Bernie) Noah; Angela (Jeff) Cook; son Randy (Teresa) Ball; grandchildren Tara (Chris) Floyd, Ashley (Coby) Sherrill, Amanda (Nick) Mason; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2023, at 2pm at North Woods Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1pm – 2pm prior to the service.
