Johnnie Lamar Tyson

Mr. Johnnie Lamar Tyson, 76, of North Charleston, South Carolina, died at his home, Sunday evening, May 17, 2009. He was born April 21, 1933 in Chickamauga, Georgia, he was one of eight children of John Forest Tyson and Hilda Viola Hartman Tyson. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Marine Corps and the US Navy. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Tyson was a truck driver with Allied Trucking Systems and later C-Truck. Surviving Mr. Tyson are his children: son, Jimmy L. Tyson and wife, Leeann of Savannah, GA ; son, Johnnie Tyson of Charleston; daughter, Carmalita Elaine Dalton and husband Sherman of Advance; daughter, Kristi Joy Harness of Dalton GA and son, Jeffrey Lloyd Tyson of Walnut Cove; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also included among the survivors are a brother, William Tyson of Summerville, GA; a sister, Virginia Elkins of Alabama. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Lee Pollock officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
