Mrs. Johnnie Mae Evans Shutt, 79, of Clemmons passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Shutt was born in Louisiana on September 28, 1935 to John and Mae Waites Evans. Mrs. Shutt was deeply committed to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from Food Lion and was an avid fan of UNC Basketball. Mrs. Shutt was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, and a brother. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Shutt; daughter, Cynthia Kozerow and husband Kevin of Lynchburg, VA; son, Mack Lewellyn and wife Holly of Bristol, TN; three stepchildren, Ray Shutt and wife Lisa of Westminster, MD, Tim Shutt of Raleigh, and Deborah Kiger and husband Jeff of Germanton; eight grandchildren, Josh Kozerow, Carissa Kozerow, Emilyne Lewellyn, Joshua Lewellyn, Gabrielle Kiger, Brody Kiger, Heather Shutt, and Stephen Shutt; great grandson, Logan McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Reedy Creek Baptist Church in Lexington, NC, with the Rev. Egbert Craven, Jr. and Dr. Ray Shutt officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 9 pm Monday, May 4, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff and CNAs on 9 West Oncology at Forsyth Medical Center for their exceptional care of our loved one.
