Mr. John Louis Tucker, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. John was born in Forsyth County on January 21, 1945, to the late Louis Glenn Tucker and Irene Montgomery Tucker. He attended New Friendship Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 2003 after 36 years of service. John began assisting his grandfather with building homes at the young age of 12 and this led to a lifelong hobby of woodworking. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed making items for his family, friends, and neighbors. John also cherished the time spent outdoors working on his farm in Shady Valley, TN. One of John’s favorite things to do was attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and be a source of support for them. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, James Lafferty, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Judy Blevins Tucker; two daughters, Gina Jones (Dwayne) and Lisa Crouch; two sons, Jody Tucker, and Danny Tucker (Trina); ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Thomas Tucker (Sara). A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Chris Byrne officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to New Friendship Baptist Church, 4258 Old Lexington Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
