Our son, our world, John Lee Mathis, age 34, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on October 7, 2021. John Lee was born to Roy Lee Mathis and Debbie Mathis on February 7, 1987, in Winston-Salem.

Surviving are his parents; Roy Lee Mathis and Debbie Mathis of Winston-Salem, paternal grandmother; Sylvia Mathis of Winston-Salem, and maternal grandmother (maw); Carol Reid with whom he shared a very special bond and relationship with. He will be dearly missed by his fiancée; Jessica Willard, best-friend; William (Will) Robertson, his dog; Morticia, a very special uncle; Kenny Reid, uncle; Ricky Mathis, and many other special family members and friends.

John Lee graduated from Parkland Senior High School and attended The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He worked for Roy E. Mathis and Associates for many years, held a degree in coding and a license in realty.

He will be remembered by his great personality, great smile, and infectious laugh. Wherever he went, he always made a friend. Heaven gained a very special angel, as he will be forever and always in our hearts. You will always be “my sunshine, my only sunshine”.

A visitation will be held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Monday, October 18, 2021, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a private family graveside will be held.
