Mr. John Isaac Winesette, 85, passed away November 29, 2023, at Novant Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born September 22, 1938, in Galax, Virginia, to the late Curtis and Margie Winesette. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; son Michael, and his wife Kimberly; son David, and his wife Carol; granddaughter Jessica Schap, and her husband James; grandsons: Joshua, Matthew, and Jordan; great granddaughter Macy Schap; niece Deborah Secrist, and her husband, Carlos. John grew up in Galax, Virginia before getting married and serving in the United States Army. John and Bonnie moved to King, NC in the sixties where they have lived for 55+ years. They had two sons and attended First Baptist Church of King where John was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. John and Bonnie became members at Jefferson Christian Church in Rural Hall in their later years, where John always enjoyed helping with Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. He was a reserved man and lived his life by example through hard work and providing for his family. He loved his family, co-workers, and community very much. John's father, Curtis Winesette, taught him, by example, the importance of hard work. He was a furniture maker in Galax. His grandfather was a local business owner in Galax and he helped John developed his strong faith in Jesus Christ. John had a gifted older sister, C. Sue, that had a successful career in education. She also was an amazing artist. He has a wonderful niece, Deborah, that he loved very much. She resides in Williamsburg, VA. John was a construction bookkeeper at a young age and would work in the field after completing his work in the office. He also learned how to repair cars at an early age. His real calling was accounting where he worked for companies in King and Winston-Salem. While John was working full time and raising a family with Bonnie, he attended college at night where he completed his degree at UNCG. John was very methodical and believed in doing things the right way. In the eighties, John started working for RJ Reynolds and later retired as the payroll manager for Reynolds American. After retiring, John had several hobbies. He would attend airplane shows with his eldest son Michael and go fly fishing with his son David. He also enjoyed supporting and volunteering at Operation Christmas Child and King Outreach ministry. A celebration of life will be held for John 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Jefferson Christian Church, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC, 27045.
