John Wilmoth

Mr. John "J.B." Byrd Wilmoth, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. "J.B." was born in Forsyth County to the late Colonel and Della Bowman Wilmoth on March 17, 1928. He was a longtime member of Cedardale Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a veteran of The United States Navy and The United States Air Force, where he served in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie "Connie" Atwood Wilmoth. He is survived by two sons, Randy Wilmoth and wife Zina, and James Atwood and wife Kate; two daughters, Jewel Wilmoth and Debbie Brooks and husband John; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Callie Nugent and husband Bill; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Forsyth Hospital and Silas Creek Manor. A funeral service will be held 12pm Monday November 27, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Jon White and Pastor Donald Luffman officiating. Burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday November 26, 2017 at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to gather at Randy and Zina Wilmoth's house this weekend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home expenses, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC.
