WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mr. John Bickett ""J.B."" Williams, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born on January 22, 1926 in Yadkin County, NC to the late Thomas Oliver Williams and Treva Lakey Williams. Mr. Williams was a member of the 341st Infantry, 82nd Division of the United States Army. He served in both the European and Pacific Theaters and earned the American Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medals and a Bronze Star. After his service to his country, J.B. worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired after 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas L. Williams, Sr. and Buddy Leonard; and his beloved dog, Harley. Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Williams of the home; two sisters, Clara Leonard Southern (Johnny) and Mittie Gray Profit, all of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Ketners Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Martin Murphy for the care he provided to J.B. during his illness. The family would also like to say a special thank you to the staff at VCA Animal Hospital West for the compassionate care they provided to Harley over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
