Mr. John Cleda Watson, 54, passed away on Tuesday March 10, 2020
He was born in Forsyth County on September 12, 1965 to Grady Watson, Jr. and Betty Sweatman Watson.
John worked for the City of Winston-Salem. He also worked at Taylor Cabinets, Inc. and Salem Systems. He was a member of the Scouts. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. John enjoyed watching sports and was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed going to the beach, the fair, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and he always knew how to brighten up your day. His was dream was to be a veterinarian, stemming from his passion and love for all animals. John had a sweet and caring soul, loved his family, was a loyal friend, and truly had a heart of gold.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Cleda Sutphin and Mae Sutphin and paternal grandparents, Grady Watson, Sr. and Beatrice Watson, and uncle Robert Sweatman.
Surviving are his son, Jonathon Lee Watson; siblings, Mark Lee Watson, Robin Watson Carrington (Alan), and Jennifer Watson Thomas (Danny Myers); nephews, Alan "Shane" Thomas and Brandon Lee Holleman; and great nephews, Christian Alan Thomas and Jacob Alan Thomas; aunt, Lani Kratzwald; cousin, Robert Lee Sweatman II, and many other relatives of the Watson family.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
