John William Tucker, 97, of Clemmons passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017. He was born on March 11, 1919 in Yadkin County to the late Millie Shore Tucker and Harrison Gladstone Tucker. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Johnson Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was a World War II veteran who served in the Army in North Africa and Europe. He retired from working at Hanes Dye and Finishing Company for 41 years as a warehouse supervisor. John loved nature and he grew up hunting, fishing, and working in the soil. He nurtured a home garden for fifty plus years and his speciality was growing tomatoes to share with his neighbors. He was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR.
Mr. Tucker was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by daughters Loretta Tucker of Advance and Nancy Tucker Finger of Garner, grandchildren John Finger and fiancée Flora Grey Evans, Paul Finger, and Allison Gillies and husband Brett, great-grandchildren Caroline and Cameron Gillies.
He is also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Thomas Blackburn, brother-in-law, Robert Glenn Johnson, Jr., and sister-in-law, Mrs. Roby Brown. Many thanks to special friends Flossie Johnson and Maxine and Jim Mast.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel by Mr. Tucker's nephew, Rev. Tim Tucker. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
