John Walter Todd

Mr. John Walter Todd, 84, of Kernersville, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born August 14, 1926 in Loris, SC to Bessie Mae Grainger and William Isiah Todd. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and preached at various churches in North and South Carolina. Mr. Todd was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church where he was the church sexton for 35 years and was very dedicated to keeping the Lord's house clean. He retired from Myrtle Desk Company. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Owens Todd; four children, John Wayne Todd of Kernersville, Faye Lakey (husband Dale) of Winston-Salem, Melanie Hoyle (husband Bence) of Lincolnton and Jerry Grimsley (wife Carol) of Billings, MT; ten grandchildren, Bryan Todd (Kay) of Dallas, NC, Kimberly Todd of Kernersville, Christopher Lakey (wife Kristi) of Kernersville, Michelle Liddle (husband Jason) of Roanoke, VA, Jake Hoyle, Drew Hoyle, Jessi Hoyle of Lincolnton, Kenneth Grimsley of High Point (wife Rhonda), Jada Aplin (husband Scott) of Montana, Jeri Ann Grimsley of Montana and eight great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Union Cross Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Union Cross Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice at Union Cross Baptist Church.
