John William Spainhower

God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be; so He put His arms around him, and whispered, ""Come with Me."" Mr. John William Spainhower, Jr. of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on May 9, 1939 to John William and Elizabeth Wood Spainhower, Sr. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Spainhower was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Spainhower of the home, his children Teresa A. Woods of Virginia Beach, Va., John W. Spainhower,III of Winston-Salem, and Susan Sykes McDowell of Lexington, four grandchildren Hannah Sykes, Van Sykes, Morgan Spainhower, and Jay Spainhower, IV. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Lisa Tanico officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Ardmore United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ardmore United Methodist Church, 630 S. Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
