John Edward Skarzynski

John Edward Skarzynski passed away on March 8, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center after a long illness. He was born on September 10, 1950 to Marian Weatherman Little and John Stanley Skarzynski, both of whom preceded him in death.

Called Edward by his family, and John by his coworkers, he lived a life full of challenges that he conquered with courage, faith, and a wonderful sense of humor. He graduated from Central High School in the special education program and then worked in various positions at Goodwill Industries for 40 years until his retirement in 2012. Edward took a great deal of pride in his work and was a shining example of what a person with disabilities can overcome when they have the faith and the desire to do so.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lucinda. She was the love of his life and they enjoyed 25 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his two brothers, Mike and Chris. He was very proud to be their ""little brother"" and always knew that his brothers were there for him no matter what the circumstance. Other surviving family members are sisters-in-law Donna Skarzynski (Mike) and Linda Skarzynski (Chris); nephews and nieces Erik Skarzynski, Sean Skarzynski, Adrienne Beauchamp, Gwyn Skarzynski, Will Beauchamp, Hunter Skarzynski, and Maggie Beauchamp.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Bermuda Commons and Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center for their care of Edward. They are also very appreciative of all the special friends of Edward and Lucinda who have been so supportive over the past few years.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th in the chapel at Hayworth Miller on Silas Creek Parkway at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastors Bryant Madren and Austin Caviness. The family will be available to receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epilepsy Institute of NC: www.eiofnc.org.
