John Sidden

Winston-Salem-Mr. John Thomas Sidden, 84, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1933 in Forsyth County, the son of William "Bill" and Stella Sparks Sidden. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict and a retired Teamster having worked for Pilot Trucking, Hennis Trucking and Spector Red Ball Trucking. A quiet-thinking man of many talents, he loved to garden, farm and was devoted to his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Irene Sidden and two brothers William "Bill" Sidden, Jr. and Elmore "Moe" Sidden. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley McGuire Sidden, a daughter, Edwina Hiatt and husband, Barry of Winston-Salem; a son, Kevin Shane Sidden of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Jason Hiatt and wife, Vanessa of Winston-Salem and Aaron Hiatt of Winston-Salem; a step great granddaughter, Maddie and a sister-in-law, Susie Sidden of Pinnacle. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum.
