John Henry Shore

Mr. John Henry Shore, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 29, 1930 in Forsyth County to Wiley Thomas and Ila Reid Shore. Mr. Shore was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was division leader for the south division bus ministry as long as his health allowed. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving is his wife, Jewell Robinson Shore; two sons, Jay Shore and wife Marci, and Joseph H. Shore and wife Marcia of Tennessee; two sisters, Vallie Cline and husband Rex, and Iris Westmoreland; one sister-in-law, Carol Shore; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson, the Rev. Frank Shumate, and Brother Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 23 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to thank all who helped with John's long illness at home and especially the 18 months he was in different rest homes. People would unexpectedly do things without being asked, at seemingly just the right time. We will not mention names for fear of missing someone, but thanks to the Gospel Light people and many others that were ""Godsends."" Thank you to Oak Forest for those who cared for John. Also thanks to Community Hospice for the super job they did.
