John H. Saylor

John H. Saylor, 81, passed away on Friday August 31, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Durham, NC to Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Saylor, Sr. After completing a tour of duty with the US Army in Korea, he returned to college and graduated from Duke University. Mr. Saylor was employed by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for over 33 years primarily in the Marketing Research Department. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Astrid Conrad (McDaniel) Saylor; three daughters, Cathy Saylor and Patricia Saylor both of Durham, NC, and Gail Basham (John) of Boones Mill, Virginia; one step-son, Cameron McDaniel (Marie) of Lewisville, NC and one step-daughter, Kimberly McDaniel of Yadkinville, NC. Mr. Saylor is also survived by seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Trivett, of Pfafftown and a brother-in-law, Julian Lewis, of Kingsport, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM on Monday September 3, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private graveside burial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the American Heart Association.
