John Milton ""Skip"" Reifsnider III, 84, died Monday, October 13, 2014 in Winston-Salem, NC, where he resided since 2006.
Born in Toledo, Ohio February 22, 1930, Skip was the only child of John Milton Reifsnider, Jr. and Genevieve Rooney Reifsnider. In 1957, he married his Irish Colleen Mary Pat Carter in Toledo, where together they raised 5 children and made many lifelong friendships. In 1983 they relocated to Pensacola, FL where they resided until Skip's retirement from T. R. Miller Mill in Brewton, AL in 1995.
Skip was so proud of his children and grandchildren in whom he instilled the importance of family and friends. ""Papa,"" as he was known to his grandchildren, leaves a legacy of generosity, a sense of humor, and a willingness and ability to make conversation with anyone, which he often referred to as ""spreading joy.""
He will be forever loved and missed by his children and 14 grandchildren: Shelley Rider (Rick,) children John and Ellen of Winston Salem, NC, and Patsy Mangas (Rob,) children Meredith, Daniel, Tricia and Robbie of Chantilly, VA, Bob Reifsnider (Kim,) children Lindsey, Courtney, Bobby and MacKenzie of Denver, CO, and John Reifsnider (Robin,) children Carter, Cole, Jack and Travis of Richmond, VA. Along with his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his youngest son William Francis ""Bill"" Reifsnider.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Winston Salem, NC, with interment immediately following at the Holy Family Columbarium. Family and friends are invited to gather afterwards for a memorial reception.
