John Lee Ratledge

East BendMr. John Lee Ratledge, 85, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 23, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Paul Glenn and Laura Elizabeth Brendle Ratledge. Mr. Ratledge was a veteran of the U.S. Army and later retired from Lucent Technologies with 40 years of service. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge #162 for 62 years and a lifetime member of the Winston-Salem Shrine Club. Preceding him in death was a son, John Lee Ratledge, Jr. and two brothers, James ""Pete"" Ratledge and Robert Glenn Ratledge. Surviving is his wife, Myrtle Ratledge; sister, Betty Saylor of East Bend; brother, Jerry Ratledge (Dottie) of East Bend; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Elmore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, 6321 Old Hwy. 421 East Bend, NC 27018 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.
