WALKERTOWN-Mr. John Rudolph Quesenberry, 91, passed away Tuesday October 26, 2021 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. John was born on December 4, 1929 in Carroll County, VA to the late Rufus Winton and Louisa Ruth Burnett Quesenberry.
He was a long-time member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. John was an avid gardener. He and Carole owned and operated Quesenberry’s Greenhouses for more than 30 years. He also worked for Swift and Company for 27 years.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Culler, and Jane Strickland; and one brother, Noel Quesenberry.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Carole Quesenberry; son, Scot Quesenberry (Amy); two daughters, Diane Joyner (Ken), and Pat Spry (Randy); seven grandchildren, Trae Joyner (Janelle), Paige Mock (Jason), Robbie Spry (Christine), Jeremy Spry, Natalie Wilson (Eddie), Cassie Smith, and Abby Quesenberry; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Dwane Quesinberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Morrison and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
